Starting at 9AM help us continue a new Athens Thanksgiving tradition as we host a 24 hour board gaming event to support Athens' own Book for Keeps!
We will open at 9:00am on the Friday after Thanksgiving and STAY open until the next day so whoever wants to join our team can stay up for 24 hours playing board games! Ever wanted to actually finish a game of Monopoly, or for that matter, Twilight Imperium? Here's your chance! We will be open as usual during the day but will reserve tables for team members. After our official close time (2am) access will be limited ONLY to team members.

The Rook & Pawn is excited to participate in another Geek & Sundry International Tabletop Day.
As we zoom up on our two year anniversary in June, its a great time to celebrate games, Athens, The Rook & Pawn and the people that make all of those things great!
We will have giveaways, prizes, exclusive promos courtesy of Geek & Sundry and game demos taught by staff and special guests.
Game On! is a group dedicated to teaching the constantly expanding world of board games to older adults and retirees. A Rook & Pawn Game Wizard will select a new game each month for participants to learn and play over lunch. A great group for those looking for new games to play with their kids, grandkids and at family get togethers!

Join Mark Zimmer as he leads a night of Dungeon World, a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game. Created by Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel, the game uses the Powered by the Apocalypse engine originally designed for Apocalypse World and used in Monsterhearts and other games. The game was advertised as having old school style with modern rules. No experience needed -- these games are open to all skill levels and completely approachable.
Calling all fighter pilots! Whether you're a seasoned X-Wing player or a new recruit, swing by the X-Wing Fan Track night to engage in intense skirmishes against other pilots and earn the respect and admiration of your peers.
X-wing is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat. Basic miniatures will be provided for beginners to become familiar with the game. Advanced players are invited to bring their own set.

Looking for a group that will play some of those larger, Euro-style games with you? At Rook and Pawn University, we'll give you the tools you need to master any board game and to provide your friends and family with countless nights of fun!
The course consists of 7 lessons, held every other Thursday. Students will get the chance to learn a wide range of board games employing several unique mechanics and progressing in difficulty. Students who attend every lesson will be awarded a T-shirt and certificate of achievement in a final, seventh session.

Sign ups are still underway for The Rook & Pawn League Trivia. In League Trivia, teams of four will compete over the course of five trivia sessions, culminating in a Championship Showdown between the two teams with the highest aggregate scores. Questions will be standard/general trivia and cover everything from sports to science and everything in between.
First Round begins January 30th and subsequent rounds will be held on the last Monday of each month through the spring. The Championship Showdown will be held in May.
Teams are entitled to name two alternate players to their roster to take the place of an absent member on certain nights. An alternate must participate at least once through the season to be eligible for the annual membership award.
The winning team will be awarded annual memberships for each participant (value ~$380) and a $100 gift card.

In Cloud Control players try to score the most points by forming clouds into recognizable shapes before time runs out. Great for kids, plays in as little as 15 minutes and its for 3 to 10 players!

Every Thursday is Family (k)Night! Kids eat for free with the purchase of an adult's meal starting at 6pm. Kids meals options are grilled cheese, PBJ, or kids hummus plate, all of which include a drink. Kids 13 and younger always play games for free with at least one paying adult!
Every Wednesday is Service Industry (k)Night! For those of us who work in the local service industry, a night for you to come out for good drinks and a good deal. Keepin' it 100.
